Ardipithecus ramidus

Early Hominin

Ardipithecus ramidus is an extinct hominin species that lived approximately 4.4 million years ago during the late Miocene and early Pliocene epochs. Discovered in Ethiopia, Ardipithecus ramidus' skeletal remains provided valuable insights into the bipedal locomotion of early hominins, suggesting they were capable of both tree-climbing and walking upright on two legs.
