CHOPs (Channel Operators) - Basic Motion Channels

Course:
Houdini

CHOPs, short for 'Channel Operators', are tools for creating and changing channel data. Most everything in Houdini is channel data. For example, the position of a geometry consists of 3 channels parameters: tx, ty, and tz. Audio data is another example of channel data. Even pixels in images have several channels: Red, Green, and Blue. In this video, we provide a first look at CHOPs, by creating a simple, 2 node CHOP network that controls the motion of a sphere.

Course Description
With our Houdini series we'll take an exploratory approach. Playing around with all the different nodes, and trying to build interesting & challenging models and simulations. Houdini can be intimidating at first, but with a little bit of experimentation, the complexity starts to dissolve and a powerful and simple tool emerges. I hope you will learn to love Houdini as much as we do!
