Michael Faraday was an English scientist best known for his work with electricity and magnetism. Despite having a limited education in mathematics, he made tremendous contributions to chemistry and physics. In addition to creating some of the earliest batteries and electric motors, Faraday described the connection between electricity and magnetism which was then expressed mathematically by Maxwell. To quote Ernest Rutherford, "When we consider the magnitude and extent of his discoveries and their influence on the progress of science and of industry, there is no honour too great to pay to the memory of Faraday, one of the greatest scientific discoverers of all time."
