Frederick Douglass (1818 – 1895) was an African-American author and social reformer. He wrote three autobiographies which detailed his first-hand experiences of slavery. These were: "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave," published in 1845; " My Bondage and My Freedom," published in 1855; and "Life and Times of Frederick Douglass," published in 1881. He is remembered as a tireless champion for the equality of all people.
